INspire Future Engineers

When students think about their future careers, engineering might not be their first thought--but it should be. Engineering offers unlimited opportunities and variety, letting students pursue their passions, land their dream job, and make a real impact on the world. Engineers are highly sought after, giving them countless options to shape their future. ACEC Indiana engineers are lending their time, expertise and passion for the engineering industry to inspire the next generation of engineers. ACEC Indiana coordinates regional classroom visits, community events and more.

  • Engineers change the world! Engineers design projects that impact civil society, build smart cities, impact the quality of life for residents in communities and protect the environment.
  • Engineering is more than math. Engineers solve problems, think creatively, lead projects and work as a team. Engineers work in a variety of locations and conditions.
  • Engineering careers have strong job security in the State of Indiana! Infrastructure is highly supported by federal, state and local governments, as well as private investment.

>> High School Checklist <<

  • Many industries, including engineering, face a shortage of skilled professionals. Over 50% of Indiana’s consulting engineering firms face difficulties in filling salaried professional positions due to lack of available talent.
  • It is critical to provide early STEM exploration activities and access to explore real-time, real-world application of STEM fields. Exploration of engineers disciplines ~early and often~ will help students develop a STEM identity and build confidence on their educational journey.
  • It also provides opportunities to explore career options and make critical decision about post-secondary education, training and more. Thank you for your efforts to engage students in engineering and STEM exploration!
