Liaison Committees
Goal: Liaison with the Indiana Department of Transportation on matters related to consulting engineering.
- Liaison with INDOT
- Plan membership-wide webinar featuring subcommittee chairs
- Respond to industry needs in collaboration with Forward Together* and the Indiana Transportation Team (ITT)
Chair: Nick Batta, Crawford, Murphy & Tilly (CMT)
Goal: Liaison with the Indiana Department of Public Works on matters related to consulting engineering.
Responsibilities:
- Liaison with Indy DPW
- Host two membership-wide workshops: one for RPR (Resident Project Representative) and one for Designers
Chair: Jeff Hill, A&F Engineering
Goal: Liaison with the Indiana Department of Natural Resources on matters related to consulting engineering.
Responsibilities:
- Liaison with IDNR
- Plan membership-wide educational events or webinars as needed
Chair: Dale Gick, Commonwealth Engineers, Inc.
Goal: Liaison with the Indiana Department of Environmental Management and engage in discussions of national environmental trends.
Responsibilities:
- Liaison with IDEM
- Provide technical assistance for Indiana's water infrastructure, permitting, and legislative policy
Chair: Jeremy Roschyk, Donohue & Associates, Inc.
Goal: Ensure member firms have updated information on Water, Energy & Environment funding resources.
Responsibilities:
- Liaison with OCRA, USDA/RD, IFA/ SRF, IU Public Policy Institute and more
- Coordinate with state and federal agencies on staffing updates, interest rate trends, and the implementation of various infrastructure funding programs
Chair: Adam Dickey, HMB Professional Engineers, Inc.
Goal: Engage with the Fire Prevention & Building Safety Commission and other partners on matters of relevance to structural and MEP issues.
Responsibilities:
- Advocate for the modernization of building codes in the state
- Addresses issues of mechanical, electrical and structural disciplines
Chair: Chip Bradway, CE Solutions, Inc.
Internal Committees
Goal: Advocate for legislation that supports the consulting engineering industry.
Responsibilities:
- Monitor activities involving the General Assembly
- Make recommendations for proactive legislation
- Meets every Friday during the legislative session
Chair: Jason Frank, Garver
Goal: Advocate for legislation and regulation that supports qualifications-based selection in the consulting engineering industry.
Responsibilities:
- Communicate with clients on the benefits of using QBS in procurement of professional services
- Train the next generation of engineers to advocate for QBS with clients
Chair: Karl Krukenberg, WSP
Goal: Bolster talent pipeline of professional engineers, surveyors and others that service the consulting engineering industry
Responsibilities:
- Liaison with higher education institutions and industry partners that focus on talent development and employer support
- Identify gaps in the workforce pipeline and develop strategies to address them
- Promote scholarship program and score submissions
Chair: Katlyn Shergalis, Kimley-Horn
Goal: Encourage more young students to take interest in engineering and STEM.
Responsibilities:
- Liaison with K-12 teachers, counselors and community partners
- Facilitate National Engineers Week program and promote volunteerism
- Strategize engagement opportunities in collaboration with the Foundation
Chair: Troy Williard, Butler, Fairman & Seufert, Inc
Goal: Develop strategies to maximize member value, engagement and connection.
Responsibilities:
- Encourage greater participation, inclusion and belonging in the Association
- Assist with the promotion of networking events, recognition awards, and the Mentor Protégé Program
- Evaluate and optimize continuing education programs and events
- Support the development of on-demand continuing education content
- Establish and maintain resource library for all levels of development
Chair: John Langmaid, Kapur
Goal: Provide member firms with the strategic frameworks and risk management tools in a technologically-changing marketplace.
Responsibilities:
- Develop recommendations for a value-based revenue solution
- Navigate the liability landscape of emerging technologies
- Develop advanced strategies for human capital primacy and firm longevity
Chair: Nick Jahn, VS Engineering
