ACEC is coordinating with Citizens Energy Group, Indianapolis DPW, and INDOT to reach out to students and classrooms during National Engineers Week Feb. 17-21, 2020. Therefore, we are asking for ACEC Indiana members to volunteer to be paired up with INDOT staff or other public agencies and make a presentation at a Southern Indiana area elementary, middle or high school.
For the presentation, we ask that you share with students real world perspectives about your career and engineering, answer any questions from students and engage with the students on their current work projects. ACEC is working with Project Lead the Way to find appropriate schools to visit during the week. ACEC will provide you with additional resources to aid in your presentation to students.
ACEC will host a Volunteer Information Luncheon on Wednesday, Jan. 29, 2019 from 11:30-12:30 p.m. at the Evansville Regional Airport, 7801 Bussing Dr, Evansville, IN 47725 in meeting room 136 located near the south end of the terminal, across from the airline ticket counters and the entrance to the airport administration office. It is suggested that attendees park in the long-term lot as there will be construction on-going in short-term; the first four hours of parking are free.
At this luncheon, you will be joined by volunteers from the public sector and sign up for your school, date and time and get pointers on how to prepare for your presentation. Prior to this luncheon, you will receive a listing of all available schools and dates/ times so you can brainstorm what offering would work best for your schedule.
Volunteers will receive 1 PDH credit for their involvement.
